I'm Phil Plachta, and I own the full pipeline for 16,000+ IoT devices, from the code on the hardware to the servers that process their messages to the APIs that push updates back. Starting with a monoserver on GCP running a LAMP stack and migrating to a multi-node environment as demand shifted, I have grown this pipeline from 50 devices reporting a handful of messages to 16,000+ reporting thousands of messages per minute, millions per week.

I run the whole environment including provisioning and administering VMs, architecting and tuning database servers, and designing and shipping software. I designed and shipped the software that requests, downloads, and verifies OTA updates, as well as the API that pushes the updates to all 16,000+ units without human intervention. I have mentored a junior from zero to full ownership of our website's codebase. I own systems, I manage people, and I push code - from IoT pipelines to game systems in C#/Godot.
